Beckman Coulter is the way to go for your Hematology Needs!
Hematology analyzer for our lab
We have been using Beckman Coulter instruments since 2013. We recently upgraded to a DxH 900/SMS II workcell and I couldn't have asked for a better analyzer! The DxH 900s are very user -friendly and we absolutely love the SMS II. I decided years ago to make a switch from Sysmex to Beckman and I have never regretted it!

Great analyzer, the software has it's drawbacks.
Complete blood count analysis
The analyzer itself is a workhorse and can deal with high workloads. Connected systems are modular, allow for more DxH 900s to be connected, but there is a drawback to these connected systems - software failures. I had learned through another laboratory that their DxH 800s, the previous systems upon which the 900s are built, had issues with the DxH software crashing in the middle of intense workloads while the user is operating the user interface on the instrument. We have also experienced these problems on the 900s, which leads me to believe that Beckman knew this problem existed through service calls with clients of the connected DxH 800s, but did not fix this before releasing the DxH 900s. We also utilize the MDW parameter on the DxH 900s, because of its novelty, it was hard to find resources on how other laboratories report the parameter. We've found a good system for this but if I had a recommendation for Beckman Coulter it would be to devote resources into the application resources for hospitals.

Great analyzer for high volume laboratories.
Hematology department
The analyzer is great! Very easy to use as well as maintain. Customer support is a phone call away! After sale care is a little bit complex. Untrained or inexperienced employees could easily spill stains on the analyzer which are impossible to remove, other than by replacing those parts. Other than that, the analyzer is highly reliable, precise and always accurate.

The DxH 900 Hematology Analyzer delivers accurate, first-analysis results through proprietary VCS technology. With fewer slide reviews and high system reliability for maximum uptime, this powerful analyzer streamlines processes to maximize laboratory staff time. The analyzer is compatible with clinical informatics and automation solutions to form scalable, customized solutions. Exclusive to the DxH 900 and 690T analyzers is the regulatory-cleared hematological biomarker, Monocyte Distribution Width (MDW), that aids physicians in identifying severity of infection and risk of sepsis in adult Emergency Department patients. This marker is available early in patient assessment as part of a CBC-Diff test with no impact to workflow. Additionally, Beckman Coulter announced connecting DxH 900 Workcell and DxH Slidemaker Stainer II with Scopio X100HT high-throughput digital cell morphology platform.
Brochures
Suspect, diagnose, and confirm sepsis
In this brochure, Beckman Coulter describes the steps involved in diagnosing sepsis and the points where its technology can be utilized to assist in the process. Without timely treatment, sepsis can rapidly progress to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. Upon suspicion of sepsis, blood samples can be analyzed with the DxH 900 Analyzer and urine samples with the DxU Iris Analyzer. Further testing can then be performed with the DxC700 AU Analyzer and the Dxl 9000 Access Immunoassay Analyzer. Finally, for confirmation, the pathogen can be identified with the DxM MicroScan WalkAway ID/AST System.

Digital morphology and it’s real-world impact in the hematology lab: A case study interview
In this video, hear from Julia Radchenko, Beckman Coulter and Jessica Issac, Indiana University Health, as they discuss the Scopio Lab's digital morphology solution and its implementation into a busy hematology lab. As a follow on from the announcement of the Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and Scopio partnership at last year’s AACC 2022 Annual Meeting, this interview tells the next stage of the story. Watch the video to find out how the vision of this scopeless solution is going to impact laboratory productivity and positively enhance patient care.

Early sepsis detection: The critical role of biomarkers
In this video, Dr. Elena Sukhacheva from Beckman Coulter discusses the recently FDA-approved sepsis biomarker that can aid in early sepsis detection. The biomarker is part of a scientific effort to help clinicians worldwide detect sepsis early, which is critical for effective treatment and successful patient recovery. Whilst there is no single best biomarker for sepsis, combining biomarkers with clinical information from the hospital along with the use of diagnostic algorithms can help identify patients who need further differential diagnosis. Beckman Coulter is working towards biomarkers with high levels of sensitivity and specificity, that are cost-effective and can be made available for the majority of patients.
