Evaluation of Biostat® RM for Plant Cell Culture

In this application note, Biostat® RM bioreactors were evaluated for the cultivation of plant cells. For this evaluation a suspended cell culture, belonging to the family of the Plantaginaceae was grown in the dark in order to produce cosmetic active ingredients, intended for the Cosmetic industry. We developed a unique range of biochemical actives, with substantiated efficacy for sebum regulation (‘adjusting’ dry or oily skin).

In this application note, Sartorius present a study of the cultivation of suspension adapted CHO-S and CHO-K1 cells in the single use bioreactor BIOSTAT® CultiBag RM compared to the BIOSTAT® B-DCU® with stirred glass vessels. Chemically defined, serum-free media is used for the purpose of producing a high titer of monoclonal antibody in batch and simple fed-batch regime. The growth of the PER.C6R cells in the CultiBag RM was compared to growth in single use shaker flasks.
