Quickly identifying the cause of bloodstream infections may help clinicians more rapidly and appropriately manage patient therapy. With 43 targets, the newly expanded BioFire BCID2 Panel detects bloodstream pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes directly from positive blood cultures. The panel features broadened inclusivity for Enterobacterales, new assays for fungal and anaerobic pathogens, and additional identification of coagulase-negative Staphylococcus species. The BioFire BCID2 Panel menu includes 10 antimicrobial resistance genes, including a novel MREJ target to allow for more specific MRSA identification.
