I have been using the VITEK 2 system extensively in a hospital-based microbiology lab. It offers rapid and reliable identification and susceptibility testing, which is crucial in infection control and antimicrobial stewardship. However, occasional errors in identifying rare organisms and the high cost of consumables are notable limitations. The interface is user-friendly, and integration with LIS is seamless. Maintenance requires timely vendor support, which sometimes takes time to respond.
