Without this technology I would no longer have a passion for my research.
Pesticides and veterinary drug analysis
The Xevo TQ-S micro Technology is an excellent technology from Waters for the analysis of Pesticides and veterinary drugs in several matrices. We have acquired this technology since 2019 and since its installation today I have had better results. These very repeatable and reproducible results are illustrated through the intercomparison tests that we do with Bipea, FAO and FAPAS. It is a very effective technology that saves us time on analyses. The creation of the analysis project, the Quandpédia databases, the creation of an analysis sequence and the processing of the results according to Masslynx are very understandable and very fast. The few times we have had difficulty, the after-sales service responds effectively. Really it is a technology that does not tire me. Through my results, I have already encouraged my bosses to get us a new Waters model.

Sharper peaks & good % RSD, wider pH range peaks with 1.7micron column .
Environmental analyses, food safety
Easy to use, empower software is super. Service and support always good in my region.

Worth buying in terms of price compared to equivalent instruments.
Bioanalysis
Very good instrument in terms of sensitivity and reproducibility. We had four systems in our bioanalytical lab. We applied method parameters for a compound which was developed in one system to all four systems. There is no change in chromatography, base line noise.

Robust, good results, expensive.
Residual pesticide analysis
The equipment is user friendly, software friendly. The equipment has low quantitation limit values, is robust, and accurate. After-sales service is good. Disadvantage: Consumables are expensive.

Great instrument, fantastic service/applications support
Food and Beverage analysis
The Waters TQ-S micro MS system with an Acquity I-Class UPLC is a new addition to our lab. The instrument has excellent performance both with regards to UPLC and MS. More importantly, Waters has demonstrated themselves as an excellent partner with regards to installation of the instrument, applications training, etc. We had an initial issue with the instrument after installation that wound up being related to a faulty component on the communications board. The team was committed to finding a prompt resolution to the issue and their diligent work minimized down-time. Once the problem was fixed, they even worked with us to modify the service contract to reflect the true date of when the instrument became operational. Fantastic service and support behind a great LC-MS system.

Revolutionary design has produced a tandem quadrupole instrument with a small footprint that delivers consistent low levels of quantitation with a wide dynamic range.
With new performance enhancements, the Xevo™ TQ-S micro enables you to routinely determine highly polar, ionic compounds in food. Software enhancements also enable results to be reviewed easier and faster and provide automated functions that allow new methods to be developed and existing methods to be optimized, much more easily.
When combined with superior performance per square inch and exceptional analytical flexibility, the Xevo TQ-S micro delivers reproducible high-quality analytical performance, even with the most complex sample matrices.
Determination of vitamin D and previtamin D in food products
This application note demonstrates an improvement in the current LC-MS method for vitamin D analysis. It demonstrates the determination of total vitamin D by individually measuring the vitamin D and previtamin D in food products. Previtamin D was directly measured in the total vitamin D analysis, eliminating the error that could arise from not measuring previtamin D. This method will be less affected by the heating history of food products.
Multi-residue method for analyzing pesticides in cannabis using UPLC-MS/MS and APGS-MS/MS
In this application note, Waters present the use of a simple sample extraction and d-SPE clean up where the resulting extract is analyzed by UPLC-MS/MS or APGS-MS/MS in a manner that complies with Canadian regulatory requirements. A single workflow for the multi-residue analysis of pesticides in cannabis is demonstrated.
Determination of the Oregon pesticide list in cannabis
In this application note, Waters presents the use of a simple sample extraction and dispersive solid phase extraction (dSPE) clean-up procedure, followed by UPLC-MS/MS analysis, for rapidly monitoring the Oregon pesticide list.
Building laboratory capacity to ensure cannabis safety, quality, and efficacy
Waters Acquity UPLC-MS/MS and Xevo TQ-S micro systems are designed to improve pesticide detection for ProVerde laboratories, helping scientists ensure customer safety for medical marijuana products.
Analysis of residual pesticides and mycotoxins in cannabis to meet Californian regulations
In this application note, Waters presents the use of a simple sample extraction and dispersive solid phase extraction (dSPE) clean-up where the extract is analysed by UPLC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS/MS for rapidly monitoring pesticides and mycotoxins in cannabis matrix.

The Analysis of Steroid Hormones Using LC-MS/MS
This application note presents an analytically sensitive, accurate and precise measurement of corticosteroids and androgens in serum, for clinical research.
Multiresidue Analysis of Pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables Using UPLC-MS/MS
In this application note, the development of a multiresidue method for the routine determination of 190 pesticide residues in various fruit and vegetable matrices using UPLC-MS/MS is described. White grapes and green beens were selected for this application due to their relatively increased complexity, since they contain chlorophylls which are known to affect the extraction efficiency of pesticides from food matrices. A generic QuEChERS sample extraction procedure was used to extract the pesticides from the samples, followed by a rapid and high resolution UPLC separation and trace level detection of pesticides using the Xevo TQ-S micro.
Minimizing Phospholipid Interference During LC-MS/MS Analysis of Vitamin D Metabolites in Serum for Clinical Research
Interferences by matrix components can be challenging when measuring serum levels of vitamin D metabolites by LC-MS/MS, particularly lysophosphatidylcholines. They are challenging to remove during sample preparation and difficult to separate chromatographically. This white paper describes an approach for method optimization using the Oasis PRiME HLB solid phase extraction plate, from Waters.
Regional drug use trends aid fight against evolving opioid epidemic
The opioid epidemic in the US is a severe public health crisis, with increasing misuse, addiction, and overdose deaths. Central to tackling opioid dependence are dedicated treatment plans using opioid substitute therapy. However, as the crises evolves into its now fourth wave, different regions are exposed to different concoctions of drugs and so a more personalized approach to evaluating compliance with therapy is required.
Speaking with Dr. JP Canner, Chief Scientific Officer and Laboratory Director at Gravity Diagnostics, we explore how this state-of-the-art CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified laboratory is expanding its drug testing menus to respond to regional drug use patterns seen as part of its clinical toxicology services.
