Comparing to conventional extraction method by using spin column this kingfisher flex 96 well can help us to effectively extraction nucleic acid within 26 mins and the instrument is easy to operate. Preparation of plates also very easy. I recommend this instrument for labs dealing with high number of samples. It is cost effective and less time consuming.

RNA extractions have significant applications in the present day. In terms of molecular biology, RNA extraction is the process of purifying RNA from biological samples. There are several methods to separate RNA from the given samples. This extraction process and gene expression analysis have a lot of impact on the downstream applications. Apart from RNA, we also have methods for DNA extractions. The essential difference between these two methods is the pH value. For DNA extraction, the pH level is around 8, and it is around 5 for RNA.

DNA and RNA extractions for molecular diagnostics
The Kingfisher Flex is so user friendly that our lab bought a second one! Our 96 well platform allows for testing of 94 samples along with a negative and positive extraction control. The instrument ques the user to load the appropriate plate(s) in proper order of a programmed protocol. The closed system with a clear removable dome prevents dust/dirt from entering the testing site. The instrument can be decontaminated with a bactericidal/virucidal wipe.

DNA/RNA extraction
So far the simplicity and minimal amount of space that it takes up in the lab have been great. Also it seems to very adaptable to other magnetic bead extraction kits which is a big plus. The results so far have been very consistent and it has sped up the overall workflow significantly with operator variability removed from the equation.

Reproducible Liquid Handling for the Molecular Biology Workflow
This application note describes how the Thermo Scientific™ high-throughput molecular biology workflow is efficient and effective for automating liquid handling steps in the DNA purification and analysis process. Magnetic Bead Based Soil DNA Isolation Using the Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex and KingFisher Duo and ClearMag™ Technology
Certain sample materials offer more challenges in DNA purification than the others. Soil samples, for instance, contain lot of PCR inhibitors, which are difficult to remove during sample preparation. The PowerMag™ Soil DNA Isolation Kit was used together with the Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex and KingFisher Duo magnetic particle processors for DNA purification from several different soil samples. The aim was to optimize an efficient sample preparation system ensuring high yield and quality DNA without inhibitors.

Efficient plasmid DNA purification from bacterial cultures is key to many molecular-based experiments. This application note describes an automated process for plasmid DNA purification from bacterial cultures. The method integrates the use of the Thermo Scientific™ KingFisher™ Pure Plasmid Kit and the KingFisher Flex platform for efficient purification of plasmids of various sizes. The system was also used to purify plasmids containing recombinant antibody sequences for sequence identification.
