MB49 Murine Bladder Carcinoma Cell Line
Cancer Tools153368
Syngeneic urothelial carcinoma model for bladder cancer research and immunotherapy development
MB49 is a well-characterised and long established murine urothelial carcinoma cell line derived from C57BL/6 mouse bladder epithelium. MB49 serves as a clinically relevant syngeneic model for bladder cancer research and has been a cornerstone of research for 45 years.
Key features:
- Rapidly generates tumours when injected subcutaneously and orthotopically into syngeneic mice.
- Recapitulates key features of sex differences in tumour growth seen in patients
- Loss of the Y-chromosome and expression of male-specific antigens, which is a frequent feature observed in human bladder cancer
- Dose-dependent enhanced proliferation to dihydrotestosterone and lack of proliferation to human chorionic gonadotrophin
Applications:
- Immunotherapy development
- Preclinical drug screening
- Biomarker discovery
