This RNA purification procedure is a simple method with minimal lysate handling before automated purification on the Maxwell® 16 Instrument. The low elution volume is used to generate concentrated high-quality RNA suitable for use in downstream applications such as quantitative RT-PCR.

Automation of Luminex® NxTAG® Respiratory Pathogen Panel
The objective of this study was to evaluate the Hamilton® Microlab STAR™ platform’s ability to automate simultaneous extraction of total nucleic acid from up to 96 contrived samples with subsequent addition of the extracted material to the NxTAG RPP reaction vessels. The Luminex NxTAG® Respiratory Pathogen Panel is a qualitative nucleic acid multiplex test that provides simultaneous detection and identification of 19 viruses and 3 atypical bacteria associated with respiratory tract infections.
Automated RNA Purification from Salmonid Organs Using a Novel Paramagnetic Particle Technology
RNA viruses, including viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus, Salmonid alphaviruses (SAV) and infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV), pose a significant threat to Atlantic salmon populations. Molecular techniques offer the means of monitoring for these viruses in fish farms as well as wild salmon populations. This poster explores the use of magnetic particle-based purification technologies for automated extraction of RNA from salmon and trout organs to facilitate rapid, reliable testing.
