Immunofluorescence staining
We purchase 10 vials and get one free from the Vector company for mounting solution. For mouse brain section staining, you do not need to use nail polish to seal the cover slides that is very useful. DAPI within the mounting solution has very good signal to detect. Highly recommend.

Histochemistry
I was in touch with Liz Salmon from vector labs and she suggested that I use vectashield vibrance for my lectin histochemistry experiment. To be honest, I wasn't sure in the beginning if this would work with my samples as nobody in the field had used it. But there was a prevailing problem with existing mountants being difficult to handle and they don't prevent photobleaching of the samples. It served the purpose I was looking for. VECTASHIELD is the best fluorescence mounting medium on the market!

VECTASHIELD® Antifade Mountain Medium is an incredible mounting medium. I have personally used many competitors' products, including Prolong Gold, Southern Biotech Fluoromount G, but Vectashield has been the best mounting medium for my products. It sets and helps prolong TSA signals. Some of my slides are still fluorescent even after 1 year of 4C storage in the dark. Would recommend.

Prolongs the fluor life in IFC staining
Confocal microscopy
We used VECTASHIELD® Antifade Mountain Medium for our paraffin embedded tissue staining and imaging with Nikon A1 confocal imaging scope. It had made a significant difference in the life of the stain, and we were able to go back to slides 2- 3 month later without fading of the fluore and re- image if needed to. Highly recommend.

I have used this product for more than 20 years and have been consistently impressed with its performance. I recently found that fluorescence staining remains remarkably bright even after three years of storage when the slides are kept refrigerated.

Convenient, effective
Immunofluorescence
It works and is very convenient. My lab has been using this for decades. I have not compared it side-by-side with similar anti-fade products, nor have I found literature that convincingly compares VectaShield with similar products. It is pricey, but at the end of a many-step experiment, we choose not to jeopardize the tissue fluorescence by testing an unknown product.

Good with confocal, but not all microscopy

It is working very well on IF, with confocal microscopy, but doesn't work with SRS microscopy.

Easy to use with some limitation on fluorescence channels.
Multiplexed IF
The product is good and easy to use. However, I do find that it sometimes can be detrimental to fluorescence signals especially for the wavelength further than far-red (ex, longer than 690nm).

Immunofluorescence microscopy
I swear by Vectashield mounting medium. A number of years ago I bought less expensive varieties of mounting medium but these other media never worked as well as Vectashield mounting. They didn’t last as long and did not protect the sample from quenching as well as the Vectashield. I have had samples in the refrigerator for up to two years and the signal will still be good when I am using Vectashield mounting medium. It is more expensive than many other brands but the other brands don’t hold up as well as Vectashield so in the end the cost was comparable.
