Excellent equipment - easy to use with good results.
Respiratory virus testing
Product is highly effective, extremely easy to implement, validate and operate. Early in the pandemic, test kits were a bit difficult to obtain due to supply issues. However, by Summer of 2020, products have been readily available. Test kits/results are high quality (accuracy an precision) however, quite costly.

From emerging threats to diagnostic breakthroughs: A strategic look ahead in AMR
Wednesday, May 27 at 16:00 BST | 17:00 CEST | 11:00 EDT | 08:00 PDT
Don’t miss this chance to learn from industry professionals in a dynamic session filmed at ESCMID Global 2026 followed by a live Q&A session. Brought to you by Danaher companies, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and Cepheid, this session will explore the role of emerging diagnostic modalities to combat the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The session will apply lessons learned from MRSA and VRE testing to emerging AMR threats such as CRE and C. auris. There will be an exploration of AMR gene detection using molecular methods such as syndromic PCR panels and NGS. Besides molecular methods, we will explore emerging rapid phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility tests (AST) and bacterial versus viral host response-based diagnostics and their potential to improve antimicrobial stewardship and patient outcomes.

Improving acute infection diagnosis using host- and pathogen-focused approaches – A rebroadcast from SAEM26 with live Q&A
Tuesday, June 16 at 16:00 BST | 17:00 CEST | 11:00 EDT | 8:00 PDT
This SelectScience® webinar features a rebroadcast from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine 2026 Annual Meeting (SAEM26), followed by a live Q&A session.
Diagnostic uncertainty in acute infections remains a core challenge in emergency medicine. Brought to you by Danaher companies, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and Cepheid, this webinar examines two complementary diagnostic strategies to help close this gap: pathogen-based testing and host response biomarkers.
The first session will review evidence-based approaches to pharyngitis including clinical scoring systems and diagnostic strategies for Group A Strep detection such as PCR. The second session introduces new host-response tests to differentiate bacterial from viral infection.
Through case-driven discussions, participants will explore practical workflows, stewardship alignment, and clinical impact including time-to-diagnosis, antibiotic optimization, clinical outcomes, and patient disposition.

Managing antimicrobial resistance: A healthcare system's approach to antimicrobial detection and stewardship
Over the past five years, healthcare systems have faced a troubling rise in Gram-negative multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), contributing to increased patient morbidity and mortality. At the forefront of this surge are NDM-CREs (New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales), which have skyrocketed by 460% between 2019 and 2023, according to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)1. Another report by the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) showed a 57% increase in bloodstream infections caused by carbapenem resistant bacteria in the same time period2.
These alarming trends underscore the urgent need for robust screening protocols and precise antibiotic susceptibility testing, especially for high-risk patient populations.
Join our group of industry experts for an insightful case-based webinar exploring the complex patient journey of a 76-year-old woman residing in a nursing home. Her story begins with a fall leading to an emergency room visit where she is found to have a hip fracture. She is admitted and has an uneventful surgical repair the next day but develops urosepsis during her post-op recovery.
This case highlights the heightened vulnerability of elderly patients to MDROs, particularly CREs. Through this patient’s journey, the speakers will examine the critical role of infection prevention protocols and the value of accurate diagnostic and antibiotic susceptibility testing in guiding effective treatment as they are applied throughout a healthcare system.
The session will also incorporate the latest IDSA guidelines for managing complicated urinary tract infections, including urosepsis, offering practical insights for clinicians, microbiologists, and infection control professionals.
Key learning objectives:
- Describe how rapid PCR screening plays a critical role in enhancing infection control protocols to help minimize transmission and support timely patient management.
- Explain how rapid AST results support optimal antimicrobial therapy decision-making to help improve patient outcomes and combat resistance.
- Outline the latest IDSA guidelines for complicated urinary tract infections.
- Discuss the impact of antimicrobial resistance and diagnostic stewardship in real-world settings.
Who should attend?
Clinical microbiology lab directors/supervisors/managers, microbiologists, microbiologist lab technicians, infectious disease specialists, infectious disease pharmacists, clinical microbiology lab executives, antibiotic stewardship committee members, infection preventionists

Bringing rapid genomic sequencing into routine infection management
Infectious diseases are evolving rapidly, driven by emerging pathogens and rising antimicrobial resistance. In this video, clinical and industry leaders from Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Cepheid, and King’s College London explore how rapid genomic sequencing could transform the detection, management, and prevention of infections in the future.
As part of their expanded collaboration, Cepheid and Oxford Nanopore have worked together to develop a new research workflow that combines automated sample and library preparation with innovative nanopore-based sequencing. Experts representing the developers and one of the early research users of this integrated approach discuss how innovations such as lab‑in‑a‑cartridge technology and minimal hands‑on processes could support broader adoption and benefits beyond specialist laboratories.
