Very useful results for mineral exploration and for building geological models.
Analyze of minerals in rocks, chips, powder, etc. for mineral exploration
Have used this spectro-radiometers for over 20 years. TerraSpec 4 Hi-Res is a robust instrument, in terms of use in field and lab conditions. Easy to calibrate. Results are reliable. I will keep using this technology for many years to come. The instrument, if it's adequately treated, could last for ever. Very cost effective.

Great equipment with great features.
Mineralogy
I have been using this spectrometer for more than a year to measure diffuse reflectance spectra of ore samples of various types. The cores of wells, ore, and the rib allows you to quickly, in seconds, and effectively carry out a measurement that on another would take several hours. By this time, I have measured more than 25,000 spectra. The identification of minerals using the TSH program takes several seconds and allows you to map those metosomatic changes in rocks that are so important for understanding the distribution of useful elements.

Faster vectoring to ore body is one of the key applications of our ASD TerraSpec® 4 Hi-Res mineral spectrometer; thank you for your review!
Recognized as the de facto technology for mineralogical analysis, the rugged portable ASD TerraSpec mineral spectrometers are trusted by top geologists for performing fast, precise pathfinder mineral identification for identification of exploration targets. The ASD TerraSpec 4 Hi-Res mineral analyzer brings new levels of efficacy to mineral exploration technology. This state-of-the-art mineral spectrometer offers enhanced performance in the SWIR 1 and 2 regions and a 6 nm resolution to help you determine the viability of mineral exploration targets faster and more precisely than ever before. These enhancements provide you with the ability to capture accurate spectral data more quickly, especially for samples with darker mineral features.
- Enhanced optical configuration provides more precise spectral results for superior spectrum clarity and definition.
- Industry leading performance in the SWIR 1/SWIR 2 regions for unparalleled alteration mineral identification.
- Standard ruggedized steel covered fiber optic cable ensures consistent spectral quality.
- No need for sample prep, which means fast field scans.
For mining exploration geologists, these improvements translate into faster data capture at exploration targets and drilling sites. The improved data quality provided by the TerraSpec 4 Hi-Res mineral spectrometer also allows for accurate assessment of low-concentration and low-reflectance minerals, like iron-containing minerals such as serpentines and chlorites, which were previously difficult to measure.
Field characterization of white micas using the TerraSpec Halo
In this application note, Malvern Panalytical demonstrates how the TerraSpec Halo can be utilized in the field to characterize white micas. These minerals act as indicators that can be used to map geochemical and geothermal gradients in geologic systems.
Potential cost savings from agglomeration optimization in copper mining
In this article, Malvern Panalytical explores the use of real-time spectroscopic technology for optimizing agglomeration and heap leaching processes. Both the ASD QualitySpec® 7000 over-the-conveyor analyzer and the TerraSpec® 4 line of mineral analyzers are considered for this purpose, and promise to provide reliable real-time information to facilitate improved decision-making and cost savings.
Rapid mineralogical analysis of copper ores
In this application note, Malvern Panalytical demonstrates how NIR analysis using the TerraSpec 4 Standard-Res mineral analyzer can be utilized to predict the concentration of mineral species within ore samples. This technology promises a fast, low-cost analysis method that requires only limited sample processing, contributing improvements to planning and resource allocation in the mining industry.
