The Echo® MS+ system

SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, has launched the Echo® MS+ system at SLAS2024 International Conference and Exhibition. The system couples proprietary acoustic ejection mass spectrometry technology and open port interface (OPI) sampling with the capabilities of either the SCIEX ZenoTOF 7600 or Triple Quad 6500+ system to deliver qualitative and quantitative results, through an expanded panel of high-throughput screening workflows.

The system addresses key challenges in high-throughput screening applications for drug discovery without the need for extensive method development. This is achieved through the introduction of new, flexible workflows for small and large molecules that leverage the capabilities of high-resolution mass spectrometry for improved selectivity and sensitivity compared to other analytical tools. Through a combination of high-speed analysis, high-data quality and minimal sample and reagent consumption, the system has the potential to reduce the time, cost and risk in making critical decisions during the early phases of the drug development pipeline. With this expanded capability, researchers in drug discovery will have the ability to make faster and more confident decisions in hit identification and iterative lead optimization. This may help speed up the process of drug discovery and reduce the potential for false positive or false negative results.

Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules based on the mass-to-charge ratio of gas-phase ions. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. High-Throughput ScreeningHigh-throughput screening (HTS) is an automated drug discovery technique for identification of active compounds against a compound library. Use HTS readers and integrated assay preparation / analysis workstations to screen your compounds. Identify active compounds against various HTS libraries, including membranes, proteins and peptides and HTS cell lines. HCS uses fluorescent microscopic imaging and automated image analysis to investigate cellular events such as apoptosis, cell viability, GPCR activation, oxide production, neurite outgrowth, and cell signaling. Find the best fluorescent labeling reagents, cellular assays, and high-content imaging systems in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Drug DeliveryDrug Delivery refers to dosage form, route of administration, formulations, technologies, and systems for transporting a pharmaceutical compound in the body as needed to safely achieve its desired therapeutic effect. Drug delivery is often approached via the biopharmaceutical or small molecule drug's formulation, but it may also involve medical devices or drug-device combination products. Considerations include instrumentation, software and services. SLASThe Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) is an organization focused on laboratory automation, high-throughput screening, and biotechnology innovation. SLAS promotes scientific advancements through conferences, publications, and industry collaborations. Drug DiscoveryDrug discovery is the process of identifying potential new medications, involving stages such as target identification, compound screening, and preclinical development. It relies on cutting-edge technologies like high-throughput screening, artificial intelligence, and molecular modeling to accelerate the identification of drug candidates. Drug discovery plays a pivotal role in developing new therapies for diseases ranging from cancer to rare genetic disorders.
