As regulatory bodies worldwide shift from monitoring individual compounds to regulating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as an entire class, analytical laboratories are facing a critical 'measurement crisis'. Research indicates that current targeted testing methods may miss more than 80% of the total PFAS load in complex samples, leaving organizations vulnerable to significant compliance risks.

To address this urgent gap, SelectScience®, in partnership with Restek Corp, will host an exclusive expert roundtable discussion: The PFAS Measurement Crisis on March 5 at 16:00 GMT.

The free-to-attend online event will bring together world-renowned experts to explore how next-generation analytical standards and Non-Targeted Analysis (NTA) are transforming detection. Featured speakers include Dr. David Megson, Reader in Chemistry and Environmental Forensics at Manchester Metropolitan University, and Dr. Bharat Chandramouli, Senior Scientist and Product Director at SGS North America Inc.

“The question is no longer whether PFAS are present, but whether we are measuring them accurately and comprehensively,” says Lucy Lawrence, Science Editor at SelectScience, who will moderate the discussion. “With regulations like EU REACH and US EPA guidelines evolving rapidly, this webinar is designed to provide laboratory managers and EHS professionals with the strategies needed to stay ahead of the curve.”

Key topics of discussion will include:

  • Hidden contamination risks: Why current monitoring techniques overlook critical compounds.
  • Analytical strategies: How to overcome complex matrix challenges to ensure legally defensible results.
  • Regulatory landscape: Navigating the shift toward broader PFAS accountability and international harmonization.

The webinar is open to laboratory managers, analytical chemists, and environmental compliance officers. Attendees of the live broadcast will receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education purposes.
