New evaluation kit accelerates VOC and NOx sensor development for indoor air quality applications
15 Jul 2026Product news

Sensirion has announced the worldwide availability of the SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit, enabling engineers and developers to evaluate and integrate Sensirion’s SGP40 and SGP41 gas sensors for indoor air quality applications.
Available through Sensirion’s global network of trusted distribution partners, the kit is designed to accelerate the development of VOC and NOx sensing solutions for air treatment devices, indoor air quality monitors, and advanced air quality control systems.
Key features of the SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit
The SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit is engineered to simplify prototyping and performance assessment of Sensirion’s VOC and NOx sensing technology. It supports both SGP40 and SGP41 operation modes and includes an SHT41 humidity and temperature sensor for environmental compensation.
Unlike the SEK-SVM4x Evaluation Kit, the SEK-SGP4x does not feature an onboard microcontroller. Instead, it provides direct access to raw sensor output values (SRAW), giving developers maximum flexibility for custom development, algorithm evaluation, and integration into a wide range of platforms.
Direct access to raw sensor signals for flexible development
By exposing raw sensor signals, the SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit allows engineers to design and refine their own processing algorithms and application-specific logic. This approach supports detailed analysis of VOC and NOx sensor behavior and enables tailored optimization for different indoor air quality use cases.
The kit is designed for easy integration with platforms such as Arduino, using Sensirion’s available drivers to support rapid development and testing. This makes it suitable for both early-stage prototyping and more advanced evaluation of gas sensing performance.
PC connectivity and software-based evaluation
For simple and fast evaluation workflows, the SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit can be connected to a PC via Sensirion’s SEK-SensorBridge and used together with the SEK-ControlCenter software. In this configuration, users can access VOC and NOx Index values generated by Sensirion’s Gas Index Algorithm.
This setup enables rapid assessment of indoor air quality performance in target applications, helping developers to quickly understand how the SGP40 and SGP41 sensors will perform in real-world environments and to fine-tune system behavior accordingly.
Supported gas sensors and target applications
The evaluation kit supports the SGP40, a digital VOC sensor designed for air treatment devices and indoor air quality monitors, and the SGP41, Sensirion’s combined VOC and NOx sensor for advanced air quality monitoring and automatic control of air treatment systems.
Both sensors are based on Sensirion’s proven CMOSens® technology and integrate a complete sensor system on a single chip with a digital I²C interface. They are designed for outstanding robustness and excellent long-term stability in demanding indoor environments.
The SGP40 and SGP41 comply with relevant healthy building standards, including RESET® and WELL Building Standard™, making the SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit a suitable tool for developers working on solutions aligned with modern building and indoor air quality requirements.
“The SEK-SGP4x Evaluation Kit provides developers with a straightforward way to evaluate and integrate our latest VOC and NOx sensing technologies,” says Alvaro Charlet, Product Manager at Sensirion. “By providing direct access to raw sensor signals the kit helps accelerate development of next-generation indoor air quality solutions.”
