CLINCAL24: A letter to you from our Managing Editor
Authentic voices. Shared expertise. A global conversation advancing the future of diagnostics.
1 Oct 2026

Every day, clinical laboratories worldwide help answer some of healthcare’s most important questions.
From identifying infections and monitoring chronic disease to supporting life-changing diagnoses, laboratory professionals are vital to patient care. Yet laboratories face constant change: technologies are advancing rapidly, expectations are rising, workforces are evolving, and the potential for diagnostics to improve outcomes continues to grow.
At the same time, AI-generated content has surged, filling the internet with more information than ever -some evidence-based and scientifically accurate, some far less so.
Amplifying expert human voices in the AI era
Now in its third year, #CLINICAL24 2026 is more than a campaign. It is a global conversation uniting the people at the heart of diagnostics: passionate laboratory professionals, clinicians, researchers, industry leaders, and healthcare innovators with knowledge and experience to share. Together, they inspire new thinking and push the boundaries of clinical diagnostics.
What strikes me most about this community is how much we can learn from one another.
Over the past year, our editorial team has interviewed experts across disciplines, visited laboratories, attended international conferences, and listened to professionals on healthcare’s front lines. Each laboratory is unique, yet the same priorities recur: improving patient outcomes, embracing innovation, implementing new technologies, and collaborating to drive progress.
The good news? Incredible work is happening across our industry
Advances in clinical microbiology are helping combat infectious disease threats, while developments in brain health and Alzheimer’s diagnostics offer new possibilities for earlier detection and intervention. Laboratories are strengthening quality management, integrating genomics into clinical care, and using automation and artificial intelligence to build more efficient, resilient operations. Above all, partnerships are combining expertise, perspectives, and ideas to accelerate progress across laboratory medicine.
These advances give me tremendous optimism for the future
Throughout #CLINICAL24 2026, we’ll explore the technologies, trends, breakthroughs, and real-world experiences shaping modern diagnostics, and create opportunities for you to join the conversation.
Whether you’re a biomedical or med lab scientist, clinician, laboratory manager, researcher, quality specialist, technology provider, society or industry expert, your experience matters. The future of diagnostics will be shaped not by one organization or individual, but by a global community of authentic voices learning from one another and working together to solve shared challenges.
I hope you’ll explore the content, join our discussions and events, and share your perspective along the way.
Thank you for being part of the #CLINICAL24 community. I’m excited to discover what we can learn together in the months ahead.
