♪ [music] ♪ My name is Shaival, and I'm the hardware product manager in the Lab Automation Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. So this year, we are very excited to launch two new products. One is the Thermo Scientific Perspective reconfigurable Lab Automation Platform, and Thermo Scientific Spinnaker 3 Microplate Mover.
The Perspective Platform is reconfigurable. It has the microplate mover in the middle, and it consists of SmartCarts around it, which allow you to move instruments between automation systems, between different labs. So it improves the instrument utilization for online and offline use, as well as your space efficiency because you can reconfigure your labs on the fly.
The Thermo Scientific Perspective Platform is our reconfigurable platform with smart carts, which provide a very intuitive smart handle interface to know the instrument's status, whether they're online or offline, but also they use the same handles for sharing the instruments and moving them or relocating them to a different part in your lab. While we move these instruments around, we realize that there could be a lot of need to reteach these instruments.
But with our new Spinnaker 3 Microplate Mover, having the auto-healing and auto-leveling capability, it corrects for these new positions automatically on the fly, removing the need from the user to do this manually. Thermo Scientific Perspective instrument and the Spinnaker 3 mover are controlled by Thermo Scientific Momentum Workflow Scheduling Software.
This software allows you to view the layout of your complete system in which you can see all your smart carts as well as instruments. Now, if you wish to, let's say, remove instrument or cart from this system and take it somewhere else, you would come to the layout view and withdraw that cart. Once it's withdrawn, you can use the smart handles to unlock the cart from its position, roll it away easily.
Once you're done using the instrument somewhere else, you can also roll it back roughly in its position, release the handles, and that will dock the cart. Now Momentum Software, you can ask the software to reintroduce the cart, and that will automatically call the Spinnaker 3 Mover to relearn the new position on the fly without needing any other user input.
So with the very intuitive user interface for reconfiguring the systems on the fly, we make it possible for the labs to have a very dynamic automation footprint. Traditionally, the automation systems used to consume a fixed space in the lab, and it was very difficult to change it up. With our systems that is possible on the fly, meaning the labs have a lot more space efficiency, but also a lot higher instrument utilization, which means for labs that they can get a lot more returns on their capital investment.
Pretty much any lab can utilize the Thermo Scientific Perspective Platform, but it is especially beneficial for labs or teams that are seeing workflows change very frequently, or they're using the same system for multiple workflows. The prospective reconfigurability and the instrument shareability allows them to run dynamic workflows very easily and in an error-proof way.
Currently, we move the instruments still manually. We need a person to move the SmartCarts from one location to another. In the future, we might see that these carts are actually relocating themselves and reconfiguring the systems automatically. We could also potentially see similar technologies being applied to autonomous robots that are moving around the lab in typical benchtop instruments and integrating even those within the automation systems.
