The European Water Framework Directive is a directive that commits all member states to actively control for a long list of environmental contaminants in all water bodes of the various member states. It lays down a strategy against water pollution, to be applied in all European Union member states, that involves identifying priority substances and monitoring different classes of contaminants; and it includes the first watch list. This guide explains the most appropriate analytical techniques for each class of contaminant to allow efficient and accurate analysis.
