Live-Cell Immunocytochemistry
Correlating surface marker expression with morphological and functional changes in living cells over time
3 Jun 2018Immunocytochemistry (ICC) is a powerful imaging technique for the visualization of protein location within the cell. However, conventional ICC is not useful for the study of temporal changes in protein expression. This white paper details an integrated solution for real time ICC based on using fluorescently labelled antibody fragments in concert with the IncuCyte S3 Live-cell analysis system. The successful coupling of protein dynamics to cellular morphological changes as well changes in surface expression, cell function and cell-to-cell interactions, are demonstrated.

Cell-Based AssaysCell-based assays are used to monitor the presence, quantity and activities of a desired cellular analyte including drug molecules or biomarkers. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms. This technique provides in-depth insight into fast and complex biological processes, by allowing dynamic imaging of living cells instead of acquiring an individual image at a single point in time.
