Interferences in ICP-MS: Do we still have to worry about them?

When the first commercial ICP mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) was introduced in 1983, it was of general opinion that this new technology freed analysts from worries about interferences. Now, many years later, we know that interferences do exist in ICP-MS, but we have a good understanding of them. Over the years, new techniques and technologies have been developed to reduce or eliminate them.
