Dual reporter functionality of the xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System

1 Dec 2021

This application note from Luminex describes several experiments that were conducted to evaluate the dual reporter function of the xMAP® INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System. Detailed protocols, the materials used, and representative results are included in the application note.

Luminex™ xMAP™ INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System

Luminex

The Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX System is the newest addition to the xMAP line of instruments. It comes in two configurations: the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX System and the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System. The main differences between the configurations are the dual reporter and side eject features available in the DR-SE configuration.

Cell-Based AssaysCell-based assays are used to monitor the presence, quantity and activities of a desired cellular analyte including drug molecules or biomarkers. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms. Oligonucleotides can be made via enzymatic cleavage or more commonly by chemical synthesis with polymerases. Their use includes FISH, southern blots, microarrays and as primers in PCR. High fidelity synthesis kits and detection systems are available for easy production and detection, respectively.Fluorescence Based AssayFluorescence based assays are widely used in life science research and high-throughput screening to measure a broad range of cellular activities.Assay DevelopmentThe process of proving an assay to be sensitive with respect to the target is known as assay development. The assay should be able to characterize novel compounds and measure the potency of these compounds against a validated biological target.
