Luminex™ xMAP™ INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System
The Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX System is the newest addition to the xMAP line of instruments. It comes in two configurations: the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX System and the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System. The main differences between the configurations are the dual reporter and side eject features available in the DR-SE configuration.

The Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System represents the most advanced and versatile multiplexing platform, including novel dual reporter readout capability and side eject door and featuring an embedded PC with a touchscreen interface with a reduced footprint compared to the Luminex 200 and FLEXMAP 3D systems. With automated start up, shut down, and maintenance routines, the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX System is easy to use and maintain, providing fast read times for both 96- and 384-well plate formats. The system is compatible with all Invitrogen ProcartaPlex multiplex immunoassays and Invitrogen QuantiGene Plex multiplex gene expression assays.
In comparison to the base model, the xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System has an additional violet reporter laser and detector that makes this system the only Luminex xMAP system capable of measuring up to two parameters per bead region. Moreover, it features a plate holder that can perform a side eject in addition to front eject.
Features of the Luminex xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System include:
- Reporter laser (RP1): 532 nm diode-pumped solid-state laser (DPSS); mode of operation, continuous wave (CW); output power varies based on mode with maximum output power of 50 mW
- Reporter laser (RP2): 405 nm diode laser; mode of operation, continuous wave (CW); nominal output power of 50 mW
- Reporter detector (RP1): photomultiplier tube, detection bandwidth of 565 to 585 nm
- Reporter detector (RP2): photomultiplier tube, detection bandwidth of 421 to 441 nm
- Dynamic range (typical): RP1: ≥5.5 logs; RP2: ≥4.5 logs
- Read time: 96-well plate in ∼20 min (up to 144,000 tests/hour); 384-well plate in ∼75 min (up to 153,600 tests/hour)
- System warmup time: 30 min
- System intialization: ≤45 min
- System verification: 5 min
- Side eject door (DR-SE model only): for automation control only
- Multiplexing: up to 500 analytes in a single sample (assay-dependent)
- Available options: service contracts, IQ/OQ
- Integrated PC and integrated barcode reader
xMAP® Cookbook
Since biological assays are typically coupled to a colorimetric readout, the notion of ‘multiplexing’, or reading multiple test results in a single sample volume has been complicated primarily by spectral overlap. Color from one assay detection channel interferes with color in other detection channels. This limitation has made such multi-color assays useful only to a few analytes per sample. Download this application note to find a variety of methods and protocols for multiplex assays using xMAP® Technology.
Luminex FLEXMAP 3D bead-based vs. MSD planar multiplex immunoassays for plasma cytokine profiling in brain tumor subjects
In this application note, Luminex compares the performance of two 96-well multiplex immunoassay platforms for assessing plasma cytokine concentrations in people with glioblastoma, melanoma, breast or lung cancer metastases to the brain, and healthy volunteers.
Dual reporter functionality of the xMAP INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System
This application note from Luminex describes several experiments that were conducted to evaluate the dual reporter function of the xMAP® INTELLIFLEX DR-SE System. Detailed protocols, the materials used, and representative results are included in the application note.
