"Pros: Very effective product wich is integrated in an automatisation system. Good value to money. Cons: As soon as the device was integrated, the support ended. This very disappointing. We do not know if we get any spare parts or service. Also software updates ended. If we now decide to buy a newer model, how do we update the older ones running on one server? We are not amused."

iQue is a game changing instrument for personalized medicine.

"I have used the Sartorius iQue screener since 2015 and performed number of different experiments with the instrument over the years. These experiments have included optimization of a multi-color immunophenotypic screening of primary cancer cells against a focused library of 40 compounds. In my institute, we initially used iQue HD, which has two lasers, but quite soon started using the iQue Plus. The first generation instrument (iQue HD) had lots of issues and was often shipped back for repairs. Quite recently the HD was discontinued. The newer version is much more robust and besides occasional clogs in the probe and tubing, the machine is working perfectly. Moreover, the Forecyt software has constantly evolved and keeps getting better. I especially like the intuitiveness of the software interface. Regardless, the the software is still relatively young and has some drawbacks regarding data visualization, which I'm sure will improve over the next couple of years."

"The instrument is easy to use and maintance is really easy and time-efficient. You can measure 384 well plates very fast, enabling high-throughput. Drawback is that the instrument is really a screener. In detail analysis of immune cell subpopulation is hard (but this is ok since it is meant to be a screener). The software is good however there is still room for improvement: e.g. it would be nice to gate out dead cells for compensation. Furthermore it would be nice to make batch analysis, so that you make an analysis for one sample and then say that it should be amplied to all samples."

Fast, efficient and reliable instrument for simple screening projects.

"Running the instrument with ForeCyt is very easy, but the software analysis could be more simplified and intuitive. I never received a reference manual (hardcopy or .pdf) which is problematic when teaching users in a core facility to do analysis. Maintenance of the instrument is fairly simple, but the reagents are excessively expensive, especially for an academic budget. The speed and efficiency of this instrument is unmatched, but I'm not overly impressed with the quality of multi-parameter flow data output. The co-linear lasers and shared detectors make it difficult to design panels above 4-5 colors for most of the work we've done so far. Common combinations of fluors typically run on our traditional flow cytometers with relatively low amounts of spectral overlap tend to require unusually high amounts compensation on the iQue Screener Plus. The resulting spread in the data can make population resolution difficult. Some users have opted to go back to the standard flow cytometers for better data quality. We've found this instrument is best suited for simple, low-parameter panels with suspension cells. Efficiently and consistently processing sticky or adherent cells into single-cell suspensions has also been a bit of an issue causing clogging and poor data quality. It's not an easy procedure when working from plates. We've gone through more than our fair share of sample probes, which are expensive."

Antibody screening is dramatically more efficient on this platform

"The ability to quickly screen 3000+ wells (antibodies) is a real game changer for antibody screening and development. A traditional FACS platform would require hours of set-up coupled with many hours of reading samples and still be limited in total samples screened. The software could be better tuned for screening purposes by including the ability to build panoramas across multiple "experiments, and linking samples across plates. These functions would allow full data analysis inside forcyte since now it is easier to export raw MFIs and build custom data tables in programs such as JMP or even excel."
