Sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS or sodium lauryl sulfate, is an anionic surfactant. As the name suggests, it is the sodium salt form of a 12-carbon tail attached to a polar sulfate head. The polar headgroup gives the compound its amphiphilic properties, making it an effective detergent in molecular biology, cosmetics, pharmaceutical research and industrial applications. GD2962 is supplied as a fine white powder.
