High-throughput bacterial culture and passaging
The software is easy to use. The fact that the instrument connects to the iPad via bluetooth is convenient, allowing you to place the instrument in a hood or anaerobic chamber and leave the iPad outside. The small size of the instrument makes it portable and easy to move between locations. Compared to using a 12-channel multichannel 8 times, the MicroPro is faster, and reduces the risk of cross-contamination. The tips are slightly more expensive than tips used for a multichannel pipette, but only by a factor of 2 or so, and the convenience is worth it. It can only pipette up to 300uL at a time, but if I need a higher volume I just do 300uL multiple times. Have had for about a year and no issue with instrument yet.

High throughput culture, expression, and assaying of protein variants
The MicroPro 300 has allowed our lab to rapidly generate high quality, reproducible results for our high throughput screening of protein variants. The software has a user-friendly interface and the customization of pipetting programs enables the user to create programs that satisfy any of their pipetting needs. It has been very reliable over the last four months of use with no issues.

Easy to set up, easy to use!
High throughput protein purification
One of the nicest features of the Avidien MicroPro 300 is the ease of setup. The app-based program control makes everything very intuitive. Given the small footprint of the instrument, it is perfect for tight work benches. We routinely use it to handle bacterial cultures and to perform high-throughput (96 well) protein purification. The only thing to keep in mind is that the lids for the Avidien boxes have a little bulge in the centre, so the pipette head needs to be adjusted to account for that, if the lids are being used as reservoirs or troughs (but it's very easy to do that using the software). The customer service is top notch (a special mention to Andrew Langlois here!) and the team is super responsive to any troubleshooting queries. The only limitation would be the volume range, but there are a range of applications that the current model can accommodate, despite that.

I can't work without this instrument. Small footprint, easily fits into a BSC. The software on the ipad is easy to program and very versatile. The instrument needs very little maintenance and has been very reliable. Service is excellent with quick responses and resolution. Look forward to updated versions which can handle >300 uL volumes.

Protein engineering workflow
This instrument has improved reproducibility, speed and throughput of the experiments we're able to do in the lab. It's a perfect balance of automated and manual for molecular and protein biology. Using the instrument is extremely intuitive. Customer support is unparalleled; I can't speak more highly of Avidien in this regard. The instrument is very very small; able to easily fit on the benchtop. Since purchasing, we have come up with many more uses for the instrument than we previously thought of. It makes for an excellent purchase!

High throughput screening
We purchased the Avidien MicroPro to use in medium throughput work, particularly in anaerobic chambers or lab spaces where an investment in higher level automation was not yet needed. The Avidien MicroPro is easy to program, easy to use and, crucially, does not drop tips like the Liquidator does. It also has a small footprint, which makes it great for use in anaerobic chambers. The Avidien sales and technical support staff have also been very responsive and fantastic to work with.
