ecTOF
The ecTOF is the world’s first GC-HRMS with simultaneous acquisition of EI (Electron Ionization) and CI (Chemical Ionization) information in a single injection. While using EI as the gold-standard GC/MS ionization, the ecTOF in parallel operates a novel CI source. This way it simultaneously provides perfectly aligned accurate mass structural and molecular ion information within a single GC run.
The ecTOF is the world’s first GC-HRMS with simultaneous acquisition of EI (Electron Ionization) and CI (Chemical Ionization) accurate mass spectral information in a single GC injection.
While maintaining EI as the gold-standard GC/MS ionization method especially for structural elucidation, the ecTOF operates simultaneously a novel CI source as a second ionization method. This way it simultaneously provides perfectly aligned accurate mass structural and molecular ion information within a single GC run.
The novel, medium pressure CI source is based on a helical resonator plasma (HRP) and offers optimized control of the analyte ionization processes for high quality molecular information generation. With its improved sensitivity as well as long maintenance cycles the HRP CI source shows high performance and userfriendlyness. Automated switching between four different CI reactants without required hardware changes assures the optimized generation of molecular ions over a broad range of compound classes.
High resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) offers full mass spectral information at high resolution, accuracy and speed. The ecTOF is a unique combination of established and novel technology that offers deeper, simplified and more comprehensive coverage within your analysis. It presents the ideal instrumental setup for compound identification based on GC/MS.

Bruker tackles drugs of abuse and POPs issues
At ASMS 2024, Bruker made two significant new technology announcements in the field of mass spectrometry, introducing products that can be implemented in diverse areas such as drugs of abuse screening, and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) analysis.
Watch Jeffrey Zonderman, Senior Vice President at Bruker introducing the EVOQ™ DART-TQ+, a new high-end triple quad, highlighted as a greener and more efficient alternative to chromatographic methods, to be used for targeted analysis. The ecTOF™, a high-resolution GC-MS, is also introduced, providing a new solution for untargeted high-resolution screening.
