Covid PCR testing
As a lab that has been carrying out high volume PCR testing for the last 12 months, the Azure Cielo Real-Time PCR machine has been a fantastic addition to our suite of equipment to facilitate this process. The comparison data we have achieved is exceptional along with EQA in established schemes. It is easy to use and has intuitive software and the support from the company has been exceptional. I wish it was on the market sooner in the pandemic.

Using the Azure Cielo Real-time PCR System for SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA detection
For early COVID-19 detection and diagnosis, real-time PCR instruments must be capable of measuring very small amounts of viral RNA. Researchers estimate the limit of detection (LOD), or the lowest concentration of RNA detected with > 95% confidence, can be as little as 1 copy of viral RNA per μL2. In this technical note, Azure Biosystems determine the LOD for the Azure Cielo™ using SARS-CoV-2 RNA.
Detection of low copy telomeric genes with the Azure Cielo
In this application note, the sensitivity of the Cielo is compared to that of a competitor instrument by comparing the Cq values observed with duplicate reactions run on the two instruments.
Azure Cielo: SNP Genotyping/Allelic discrimination
In this application note, Azure detail SNP genotyping using the Cielo qPCR instrument. They detect 2 SNPs using a commercially available kit. Using a 5’-nuclease allelic discrimination assay, they amplify the target from a DNA sample using a standard primer pair, followed by detection of each SNP with two differently labeled probes (FAM or VIC reporter molecule).
