Agilent 1260 Infinity II High-Temperature GPC System
The 1260 Infinity II High-Temperature GPC System can provide information about all of today’s engineering polymers such as polyolefins, which are one of the most popular polymers with numerous applications. This level of detail helps with development and to predict how a given batch will process and perform in the final product.
Great buddy! Good narrator for telling the stories beyond the samples.
Analyze a wide range of Polyolefin samples
As a researcher working more than 8 years in the field of catalysis and polyolefin polymerizations, I totally satisfy by data collected from the Agilent technology instruments (e.g. HT-GPC-IR). This high-tech machine equipped with different detectors not only provides required information for better understanding the interactions and molecular properties of the samples but also talks to you by the data of the samples which were prepared over months. Therefore, it can be said that this machine with multi-detectors narrates the story of the prepared samples. It tells me all the things about the sample without any censors. Even sometimes the sample is not good enough and the machine shows errors and says to change the sample and use a better one (please). So, I rely on the story and write it down (as a paper) to tell it to other scientists and researchers.

An essential tool in our lab for polymer characterization.
Polymer molecular weight and structural analysis
Powerful tool for molecular weight analysis of essentially all polymer systems including polyolefins and engineering polymers. The instrument requires patience to obtain stable and reproducible results, especially when switching between solvent systems. Documentation is generally good but some gaps in information do exist in manuals/etc. Software, once configured to a given workflow, is quite capable but also possesses some notable gaps in capabilities/diagnostics. The manufacturer is generally very responsive and provides an invaluable service plan for the instrument that is highly recommended.

Traditionally challenging materials such as polyethylene and polyamides can be analyzed routinely regardless of detection technique. High-temperature light scattering, viscometry, and concentration detectors (RID and HTELSD) all deliver a wealth of information, whatever your polymer of interest.
Features:
- Characterize polyolefins and other polymers that require high temperatures for dissolution up to as high as 220 °C
- Complete sample solubility - no precipitation and all sample-carrying components are carefully thermostatted at the selected operating temperature
- Agilent PL-SP 260VS Sample Preparation System provides effective filtration (using glass-fiber or stainless-steel membranes), which can be used to remove any insoluble gels, which may block the GPC column. Samples are dispensed through a uniquely designed pipettor to minimize sample handling
GPC analysis of thermoplastic engineering polymers (PBT, PET)
Engineering polymers are particularly difficult to analyze – they are generally tough and difficult to dissolve, often requiring aggressive solvents and elevated temperatures. They have only limited solubility in a small number of solvents. This is because high strength and toughness are usually a result of high molecular weight and/or high crystallinity. Increasing molecular weight requires untangling the molecular chains to dissolve the material, whereas increased crystallinity requires break-up of any inter-chain bonds that may be present. If high temperatures are required to achieve this, a high performance integrated GPC system, such as the PL-GPC 220 High Temperature GPC/SEC System, is a necessity.
