There are four levels of Seal of Quality — Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze — which are allocated to products based on the number of reviews they receive from scientists and the average rating of those reviews

The latest laboratory instruments to earn a prized Seal of Quality have been announced in recognition of outstanding feedback received from scientists globally.

Seals of Quality recognize the top 0.1% of products that consistently receive the highest customer review ratings on SelectScience® and are designed to help scientists and healthcare professionals worldwide immediately recognize the instruments and services their peers rate the highest.

Seeing double

Agilent Technologies has achieved double the success by earning two new Silver Seals of Quality for its Agilent 1290 Infinity II LC and Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC Systems. The HPLC systems have both received over 75 reviews, with average star ratings of 4.4 and 4.6 out of 5, respectively.

When reviewing the Agilent 1290 Infinity II LC System, Edward Tutu, of Cambrex, commented: “The instrument is worth every dollar.” This achievement comes after an already successful year for Agilent Technologies, having received a Silver Seal of Quality for its Agilent 7890B GC System and a Bronze Seal of Quality for the Agilent Pursuit C18 (USP L1) HPLC Columns, just a few months ago.

New kid on the block

Manufacturer NanoEntek has made an impressive debut, earning itself not one, but two brand new Seals of Quality. NanoEntek has achieved a Silver Seal of Quality for its Automated Cell Counters and a Bronze Seal of Quality for its Disposable Hemocytometers.

The Automated Cell Counters, which includes 12 products offered by NanoEntek, have received over 75 reviews, with an impressive average star rating of 4.8 out of 5. Reviewer, Russell Massey, of American Red Cross, stated he “cannot work without this machine”, when commenting on the ADAM-rWBC Residual Leukocyte Counter.

These Seals of Quality may be the first for NanoEntek, but they mean its Automated Cell Counters are now one of fewer than 20 products worldwide to have achieved the exclusive Silver status.

Continuing successes

The success and recognition continues for Zymo Research, achieving a Silver Seal of Quality for its ZymoBIOMICS™ DNA Mini Kit, marking the tenth Seal of Quality for the manufacturer to achieve this year alone. In total, Zymo Research boasts an impressive 11 Seals of Quality, making it one of the most successful Seals of Quality recipients.

The ZymoBIOMICS™ DNA Mini Kit has received over 75 reviews with a respectable average star rating of 4.7 out of a possible 5. Our expert reviewer, Neha Mittal from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, commented on the product: “I use it almost every day and am very happy with its performance. Highly recommended.”

Another manufacturer to add Seal of Quality to its existing collection is Waters Corporation. The manufacturer, which has previously achieved 5 Seals of Quality, has now received a Bronze Seal of Quality for its Alliance® HPLC - e2695 Separations Module. The high-performance liquid chromatographic system has received over 50 reviews, with an average star rating of 4.6 stars out of 5. When reviewing the system, Michael Parsowith, of Akorn, stated that Waters Corporation is “the only company we trust all of our HPLC/UPLCs to. The service is second to none.”

Your reviews make a difference

New Seals of Quality are announced quarterly — there are almost 70 lab products currently permitted to display a SelectScience® Seal of Quality.

SelectScience CEO, Kerry Parker, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our reviewers around the world for sharing their valuable opinions and also to congratulate these new Seal of Quality winners, who have been recognized by the people who matter most, their customers.”

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. Other cell analysis equipment includes image cytometers, cell counters, fluorescence-activated cell sorters (FACS), magnetic-activated cell sorters (MACS), and a range of flow cytometry assay kits. Flow cytometers can reveal information on cell viability, cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle progression, as well as identify cell populations and intracellular or cell-surface molecules. Additionally, some flow cytometers, known as FACS, have an additional sorting function after analysis. Cell counters and image cytometers count live and dead cell populations and can also conduct cell proliferation assays.
