There are five levels of Seal of Quality — Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze — which are allocated to products based on the number of reviews they receive from scientists and the average rating of those reviews.

The latest laboratory instruments to earn a prized Seal of Quality have been announced in recognition of outstanding feedback from scientists globally.

Seals of Quality recognize the top 0.1% of products that consistently receive the highest customer review ratings on SelectScience® and are designed to help scientists and healthcare professionals worldwide immediately recognize the instruments and services their peers rate the highest.

Triple platinum

To kick start this announcement, there are not one, not two, but three new Platinum Seal of Quality awards. In the history of these awards, there has never been so many Platinum Seals at one time.

Agilent Technologies has earned a Platinum Seal of Quality for the Agilent Analytical HPLC Systems, having received 226 reviews with an average start rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5. Commenting on the systems, Zongqin Ruan from the MilliporeSigma, stated, “Daily using and it continuously produces great results.” This is the first Platinum Seal of Quality to be awarded to Agilent Technologies, it received two Silver Seal of Quality awards in 2021 for its Agilent 1290 Infinity II LC and Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC Systems.

Malvern Panalytical has also achieved Platinum status, for the Mastersizer 3000. The particle sizing instrument has received over 200 reviews with an average star rating of 4.6 out of 5. Malvern Panalytical also won a Bronze Seal just last year for the Empyrean - XRD. Commenting on the Mastersizer 3000, reviewer Andrew Waldon from Viatris said, “The Mastersizer 3000 is a must for the laboratory!”

The final Platinum Seal of Quality goes to NanoEntek, earning the award for the Automated Cell Counters, having received over 200 reviews and a star rating of 4.8 out of 5. NanoEntek is no stranger to the Platinum status, having just received a Platinum Seal for its Disposable Hemocytometers in January of this year. Reviewer Emmanuel Boadi Amoafo, from North Dakota State University, commenting on EVE - one of the fastest Cell Counters, said, “Results obtained from this equipment are fast and accurate. It is very reliable to use and saves a lot of time.”

Rising star

Twist Bioscience is one of the most recent newcomers in the Seal of Quality awards, having earned its first Seal in January of this year for its Gene Fragments. And, the success continues, as Twist Bioscience has now also earned a Bronze Seal of Quality for its Clonal Genes, having received over 50 reviews and an impressive average star rating of 4.9 out of 5.

Commenting on the Clonal Genes, Brittany Cooke from the University of Toronto, remarked, “Based on my experience with their customer service team, it is evident that Twist truly cares about their customers and the quality of their products/services. Would strongly recommend choosing Twist for all your gene synthesis and cloning needs.”

Continuing success

HAMILTON Robotics have also earned a new Seal of Quality for the Microlab STAR Liquid Handling Systems. The automated liquid handling platform has received 75 reviews and an average star rating of 4.3 out of 5. Commenting on the equipment, reviewer Shannon Louie from Belharra Therapeutics said, “The ML STAR has become an integral part of our company's high-throughput proteomic workflow!”
