Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces M Series Centrifuges to support flexible and sustainable workflows
Compact centrifuge systems combine high performance with energy efficiency and next-generation refrigerant technology
5 Jun 2026Product news

Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Thermo Scientific™ M Series Centrifuges, a new range of compact, high-performance centrifuges designed to support flexible, energy-efficient and more sustainable workflows in clinical, pharmaceutical research and academic laboratories worldwide.
The Thermo Scientific M Series Centrifuges are engineered to deliver precise, high-speed centrifugation in a compact footprint, helping laboratories optimize bench space while maintaining the performance required for demanding applications. The instruments integrate seamlessly into existing laboratory workflows and are designed to support more sustainable lab practices through advanced refrigerant technology and reduced energy consumption.
The M Series Centrifuges incorporate Thermo Scientific™ GreenCool™ Technology, featuring a next-generation natural refrigerant (R600a) with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3. This GreenCool Technology is compliant with European Union and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency F-gas regulations.
Compared to previous models, the M Series Centrifuges offer 15% less energy consumption and are manufactured in a certified zero-waste facility in Osterode am Harz, Germany.
Flexible design and rotor options
The M Series Centrifuges' compact design allows for easy placement on crowded benchtops and within varied lab layouts. To support diverse applications, the M Series Centrifuges offer seven optional rotors. These include adapter-free dual-row capability and micro-volume processing up to 21,000 × g, enabling users to process different sample types and volumes with a single centrifuge. This flexibility can improve lab efficiency by reducing the need for multiple instruments and simplifying protocol setup.
Performance and workflow efficiency
The M Series Centrifuges are built to support fast, efficient operation in high-throughput environments. They feature rapid acceleration of up to 21,100 × g in 12 seconds, helping to shorten run times and streamline research and clinical protocols.
To further accelerate daily workflows, the M Series Centrifuges support cooling from room temperature to the set temperature in 4.5 minutes. One-click lid closure simplifies operation and helps users quickly start runs, supporting more efficient sample processing throughout the day.
Safety, reliability and user experience
For safe and reliable operation, the M Series Centrifuges include ClickSeal™ biocontainment lids designed for glove-friendly, one-handed ergonomic opening and closing. This helps protect users and samples by maintaining biocontainment during centrifugation.
High-performance polymer rotors are engineered for outstanding chemical resistance, helping to minimize corrosion from specific reagents and supporting long-term instrument reliability. These design features contribute to consistent performance in demanding laboratory environments.
“The M Series Centrifuges help deliver the powerful performance needed by modern labs combined with more sustainable innovation,” said Noreen Hong, vice president and general manager of growth, protection and separation at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “As the latest addition to our portfolio of centrifuges featuring next-generation natural refrigerants, they are a testament to our work to offer more sustainable centrifugation options without sacrificing the precision we know our customers need.”
