Product news

Promega Corporation announces the release of the Maxwell 16 Flexi Method Firmware, a new Maxwell software operating system providing users with the most flexibility and control of automated instrument operation. The new functionality helps research labs develop and optimize instrument methods, maximizing performance for unique sample types and addressing specific application requirements. The new Flexi Method Firmware is available either for new and existing Maxwell 16 instrument. The Maxwell 16 is now the only instrument in its class with complete control of sample processing.

Research labs often face pressure to improve productivity and efficiency so scientific publications are delivered sooner. The manual sample extraction methods, widely used in these labs, require hands-on time of 40 minutes or more. The Maxwell 16 System automates DNA, RNA and recombinant protein purification for a variety of scientific applications. Maxwell 16 Flexi Method allows users to define key instrument operating parameters to simultaneously purify up to 16 samples, without user intervention.

"Promega understands that some samples require different processing to optimize results. This new level of personalization for our proven Maxwell 16 system handles samples with more flexibility and control of purification than existing automated solutions," explains Hemanth Shenoi, Promega strategic marketing manager. "Research labs worldwide need affordable automation that meets their unique performance requirements and improves productivity."

The Maxwell 16 System with the Flexi Method Firmware:

  • Optimizes DNA, RNA and recombinant protein purification
  • Delivers flexible results from a diverse sample types
  • Controls of key aspects of instrument operation through user selection
  • Simplifies workflow with fully integrated with pre-filled cartridges and pre-programmed protocols
  • Requires only as much space as a lap-top computer
