Innova Biosciences (Innova), a specialist provider of bioconjugation products and services, today announced it has introduced the FlexLISA® kit, providing a flexible tool for development and optimization of sandwich ELISA assays.

The FlexLISA kit allows researchers to covalently conjugate up to 3 capture and 3 detection antibodies using Innova’s Lightning-Link® technology, with any antibody of their choice. As each Lightning-Link kit within the FlexLISA kit contains 3 reactions, multiple conjugation reactions can be run at the same time.

The FlexLISA kit has been designed to allow fast and reliable sandwich ELISA assay development, screening of antibody pairs and ELISA assay optimization, for detection of the presence of any antigen with a high affinity for any antibody pair in complex samples (serum, plasma, urine, etc.). The kit reduces costs as the 96 strip well-plate is pre-coated with biotin to bind capture antibody conjugates with high affinity, so less capture antibody (up to 40 times less) is required compared to a standard ELISA. Researchers also save time, as the FlexLISA assay is a one-step protocol requiring only an hour of incubation time.

Anna Sereni, Head of R&D at Innova Biosciences, commented: “The FlexLISA kit provides researchers with optimum flexibility, and is ideal for quick and reliable ELISA assay development. This is a valuable addition to Innova’s product offering.”

AntibodiesAntibodies are used in techniques such as confocal and fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISPOT, immunohistochemistry, western blotting and immunopreciptation. Select specific antigen reactivity, high specific affinity, low non-specific binding, monoclonal or polyclonal, primary or secondary antibodies and associated conjugates such as an enzyme or dye for visualization.ELISAEnzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), also known as enzyme immunoassays (EIA), are used for the detection and quantification of proteins, peptides and antibodies in a sample. ELISA often comes in kit format, with pre-selected antibody pairs to detect specific proteins or biomarkers of diseases such as diabetes and obesity, or cardiovascular and neurological disorders. Detection is made possible with chemiluminescent, fluorescent or colorimetric substrates and detection instruments such as microplate / ELISA readers. Other kits available include: Enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISPOT) assays for the quantification of protein-producing cells and chemiluminescent immunoassays (CLIA) kits. They are widely used in diagnostics for detecting diseases, drug testing, and environmental monitoring. These assays offer rapid, sensitive, and precise detection of biomarkers, making them invaluable in clinical and research labs. The assay should be able to characterize novel compounds and measure the potency of these compounds against a validated biological target.
