FairJourney Bio has entered a strategic partnership with AbTherx, Inc. to bring transgenic mouse-based antibody discovery fully in-house. Under the agreement, FJBio gains access to AbTherx’s Atlas™ Full Human Diversity (FHD) and Common Light Chain (cLC) mouse technologies, enabling biopharmaceutical partners to run antibody discovery programs from immunisation through to a developability-assessed lead in one continuous, integrated workflow.

Integrated antibody discovery from immunisation to lead

Through this partnership, antibody discovery programs can now progress from immunisation, through single B-cell screening and optimisation, and on to candidate stability assessment and cell-line development as a single, end-to-end piece of work. The entire workflow is run by one coordinated team across FJBio’s global sites in Porto (Portugal), Cambridge (UK), and San Diego (USA).

By consolidating all key stages of antibody discovery within FJBio, the collaboration is designed to reduce the number of transitions between providers, shorten development timelines, and generate antibody leads that are engineered for developability and manufacturability, not just binding.

Atlas Mice integrated with B-Cell Navigator platform

The Atlas Mice originate from the team behind the HuMAb Mouse® technology, which has given rise to thirteen marketed antibody therapeutics. At FJBio, Atlas Mice are integrated into the Company’s B-Cell Navigator platform, a single B-cell screening and developability engine.

This integration enables developability to be considered from the first sequence, rather than addressed later in the process. As a result, antibody candidates emerging from Atlas Mice and B-Cell Navigator are designed to combine high specificity and affinity with robust biophysical properties.

Full human diversity and common light chain technologies

AbTherx’s patent-pending FHD mice are engineered to deliver fully human antibodies with a broad, human-like antibody response. This is achieved by sourcing VH and VK alleles that represent more than 99% of the expressed human antibody repertoire.

The cLC mice are designed to support the creation of native-structure bi- and multi-specific IgGs that facilitate manufacturability and developability. Together, these Atlas Mice technologies have been validated in multiple independent, head-to-head studies, consistently outperforming legacy platforms.

This technical advantage is demonstrated through broader V gene usage, superior hit rates, enhanced antibody diversity and binding profiles, increased epitope coverage, and improved hybridoma and B-cell stability.

From antibody diversity to manufacturable leads

Within FJBio’s integrated workflow, the extensive antibody diversity generated by Atlas Mice is carried through single B-cell screening and developability assessment. This approach is intended to ensure that breadth at the source is translated into developable, manufacturable leads, rather than early hits that require extensive downstream optimisation.
