Cellexus Limited, ’The Cell Company’, is delighted to announce availability of the 50 litre format of the CellMaker Regular™, a unique single use, disposable bioreactor system providing increased ODs and improved yields of soluble protein when compared with flask grown cultures.

The Company, which develops and markets a range of novel single-use bioreactors and cell-based technologies for biopharmaceutical research and production, designed the system specifically for culture of pichia, E.Coli and algae cells. Its availability follows the successful launch of the 8 litre system in October 2008 to enable further scalability.

The CellMaker Regular range of products use CellexusBags™ which are unique, single-use, disposable cell culture bags allowing fast set-up times and eliminating lengthy cleaning protocols. Whereas other disposable systems require shakers, rockers, rollers or large environmental chambers, the CellMaker Regular range of products employ proprietary airlift technology to efficiently mix, aerate and maintain cell suspension. The systems are simple, scalable and inexpensive to use. The CellMaker Regular Controller units enable precise management of temperature (15 to 45⁰C), bag-pressure and flow of air and oxygen into the cell culture. Accurate control of these parameters enables optimisation of culture growth and improved expression levels of soluble protein.

Mr Bob Cumming, General Manager of Cellexus Limited, stated “We are very pleased to expand the range of CellMaker Regular products to add the 50 litre system to the 8 litre system we launched some months ago. It provides our users with further scalability and illustrates our commitment to meeting customer needs with our concerted product development strategy designed to further facilitate system use and performance.”

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins.
