A.Krüss Optronic GmbH has developed the P8000-PT, a digital high-speed polarimeter for semi-automatic polarization measurements of small volumes. The polarimeter includes automatic filling, measurement and subsequent cleaning and drying of the measuring cell.

The measuring cell does not require cleaning after each experiment and the sample can be recovered for future analysis. The required sample, approx. 2.8 ml including the filling of the hose, is very small and is measured using the connected hose pump. The cleaning parameters can be selected on the equipment depending on the method. Furthermore, the temperature can be precisely managed throughout the experiment with a Peltier thermostatic control. The extremely fast P8000 series are the fastest polarimeters in the world with a measuring time of just 1 second! Despite their extreme time efficiency, they achieve high accuracy and resolution.

PolarimetryPolarimetry is the measurement and interpretation of the polarization of transverse waves such as radio or light. Typically polarimetry is performed on waves that have traveled through or have been reflected, refracted, or diffracted by a material in order to characterize that object. Polarimetry can be used to measure various optical properties of a material, including linear and circular birefringence, and linear and circular dichroism.Chiral Compounds
