Determination of Magnesium in Cement by Photometric Titration of the Solubilized Product

13 Apr 2014

This application note describes the photometric determination of magnesium in cement by using the Optrode (610 nm).

Optrode Sensor for Titration

Metrohm AG

Sensor for titration with photometric endpoint recognition. Eight wave lengths: 470, 502, 520, 574, 590, 610, 640 and 660 nm 100% solvent-resistant due to glass shaft Compact and space-saving Very easy to clean Easy to change the wave lengths Both new and existing titration systems can be furnished with the optrode. The power supply is provided directly through the USB interface of a Metrohm instrument (Titrino plus, Ti-Touch, Titrando, USB sample changer). With older models without a USB interface, the power supply can also be provided by means of an optional USB power supply unit.

TitrationTitration is an analytical technique for determining substance concentration in a solution. For titration consider a manual or automated system, volumetric or coulometric reagent addition and indication by a potentiometer, spectrometer, turbidometer or by the Karl Fischer method. Other features of titration to consider include burettes, reagents, concentration range, reaction time and autosamplers.Particle CharacterizationParticle characterization instruments are used to determine particle size distribution, shape, surface area, zeta potential, density and porosity of particles and materials. Multiple tecchniques are available for determining particle size, shape and count including dynamic light scattering (DLS), laser diffraction, electrozone (Coulter technique), imaging particle analysis and single particle optical sensing. Determine the density of your material with a gas pycnometer or examine its surface area and porosity with gas adsorption analyzers and mercury porosimeters.
