Revolutionary saliva-based assays use pandemic learnings to advance respiratory virus diagnostics

Dr. Anne Wyllie is a research scientist at the Yale School of Public Health, and principal investigator of the SalivaDirect Initiative. In this video interview, Wyllie describes how her team is currently working to expand the saliva-based assay, SalivaDirect, which they developed for SARS-CoV-2. Using their learnings during the COVID pandemic, Wyllie describes how the assay has now been updated to also target other respiratory pathogens. Wyllie also discusses the interdisciplinary network of partners that have come together throughout the pandemic response, and the importance of continuing collaborations like this in the future.
