Proteomics: The unprecedented potential of capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry

In this video, SelectScience speaks with Michael MacCoss, professor of genome sciences at the University of Washington, and Will Thompson, principal scientist at 908 Devices. MacCoss describes his work developing technologies to quantitatively measure proteins in complex matrices, and how his collaboration with 908 Devices is aiming to improve the speed and robustness of these measurements using capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CE-MS). Thompson describes how this technology is addressing key challenges in proteomics, and its potential in diagnostics, investigating bacterial proteomes, and metabolite analysis. Both scientists discuss the importance that collaborations have in accelerating their work.
