Using Epigenetics to Investigate Depression

Dr. Florian Duclot from the College of Medicine at Florida State University presented a scientific poster at Neuroscience 2012 entitled “An Epigenetic Investigation of Individual Differences In the Regulation of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor Following Social Defeat.” In this video Dr. Duclot discusses how the behavioral response and sensitivity to stress, anxiety and depression is associated with specific changes in gene expression, including brain-derived neurotrophic factor, histone acetylation, and epigenetic factors in a time-, tissue- and histone-specific manner.
