Developing a New GC Column for Rapid Baseline Separation of Fatty Acid Methyl Esters

Yuri Belov, Senior Scientist at Phenomenex, describes how he is developing new columns for assessing cis and trans fats in foodstuffs using gas chromatography. He presents his poster which shows how his new 30 meter column, the Zebron™ ZB-FAME GC Column, has very good baseline separation of the most challenging standard test mixture, the 37 Food Industry FAME (fatty acid methyl ester).

Zebron™ ZB-FAME GC Columns

Phenomenex Inc

The Fast FAME GC Column Reduce run times for traditional FAMEs separations up to 75 % Separate cis/trans FAME isomers with Rs ≥ 1.0 High-cyanopropyl selectivity acceptable for use with AOCS, AOAC, and IOC methods Recommended Use Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs), Cis/trans FAME isomers
