Use of laser spectroscopy for tritium enrichment determination in water samples

22 Jul 2026

ABB’s GLA431 Series water isotope analyzers use OA-ICOS laser spectroscopy to measure deuterium enrichment in environmental water samples, enabling a faster alternative to traditional tritium analysis methods. Discover how by replacing the Spike Proxy Method with the Deuterium Method, laboratories can eliminate the need for tritium spike standards, reduce sample preparation steps, and improve throughput.

Studies from the IAEA demonstrated that this approach delivers accuracy comparable to conventional methods while providing quicker feedback on enrichment performance and overall laboratory efficiency.
