How to Perform High Throughput siRNA Transfections with the CyBi®-Well Vario Workstation
22 Oct 2014In the field of gene silencing, RNA molecules of 21-28 base pairs in length are used for the inhibition of gene expression in mammalian cells because long dsRNA molecules induce the mammalian interferon response. These molecules are termed small interfering RNA (siRNA). One effective method for delivery of siRNA into cells is transfection through lipofection. This method is believed to be especially effective in the cell growth phase. This is achieved by forming a transfection complex of siRNA and a cationic lipid-based transfection reagent which is then incubated with cells to deliver the siRNA molecule into the cytoplasm. This poster demonstrates the suitability of the CyBi®-Well Workstation for automated dispensing of samples for siRNA lipofection.
