Automated Sample Preparation Using the GERSTEL MPS Dual Head WorkStation

18 Oct 2016

In metabolomics studies, relatively large sets of samples are processed to allow differentiation between sample types and the analytical variability must be lower than the biological variability. In order to achieve this, automating the sample preparation is a good first step, which can contribute significantly towards improving the repeatability of the total analytical procedure. This application note takes a closer look at Automated Ultrasonic Assisted Liquid Extraction and Filtration.

MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS)

Gerstel GmbH & Co. KG

The MultiPurpose Sampler MPS is a multifunctional autosampler and sample preparation robot for GC (GC/MS), LC (LC/MS) and standalone operation. Sample preparation steps are performed during the analysis of the preceding sample for best system utilization and highest sample throughput. Sample preparation steps are performed in a controlled and highly accurate and reproducible manner for best possible results. Every step is selected by mouse-click form a pull-down menu in the GERSTEL MAESTRO software and added to the overall GC/MS or LC/MS method. Available sample preparation steps are: Derivatization and Standard addition Dilution and extraction Cooled or heated conditioning and mixing Sonication and Centrifugation Automated weighing of liquid samples and standards Solid Phase Extraction SPE Disposable Pipette Extraction DPX Automated Twister desorption and analysis Twister Back Extraction TBE Automated GC inlet Liner EXchange ALEX Dynamic Headspace DHS Thermal Desorption and Thermal Extraction
