3-Hydroxy-3-Methylglutaric acid, HMG in Urine Analyzed with HPLC

24 Mar 2022

In this application note, a selective, specific, and sensitive HPLC method with LCMS analysis has been developed for the determination of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaric acid (a.k.a. Meglutol) in urine samples. The method can be also used in the analysis of plasma samples after precipitation of plasma proteins with acetonitrile. The retention was achieved using a Cogent Diamond Hydride Column.

Cogent Diamond Hydride™ HPLC Columns

MicroSolv Technology Corp.

Cogent Diamond Hydride HPLC Columns are manufactured with TYPE-C™ silica (silica hydride) and a very small amount of carbon on the surface that adjusts the column hydrophobicity to an important level. This makes these columns have unique separation capabilities for scientists working in LCMS, metabolomics, bioanalytical, amino acids, organic acids, carbohydrates, and very polar small molecules.
