Compact, user friendly, reliable thermomixer.
Application Area:Various applications: for heating/cooling/mixing samples
"It's an expensive thermomixer, but it is compact, easy to use and reliable. Allows for a multitude of thermoblocks, from 50ml tubes to microplate blocks that are easily interchangeable. Has an optional, special thermotop accessory lid that helps stabilizing temperature faster (and protects light-sensitive products as well)."

Over-priced, malfunctions regularly, Eppendorf not very helpful. Consider competitors.
Application Area:Cell biology, DNA replication
"We purchased this unit because it was the standard mixing/heating block people were using. There were other (cheaper) options on the market, even more options now. Despite the cost being more than double the competitors, we went with Eppendorf because we figured it would be reliable and have better service if it broke. About 8 months after we got it, the unit started throwing cryptic error codes and stopping mid experiment. Sometimes this happened 1-2 hours into an overnight incubation that ruined the whole experiment. We sent the unit back and had to pay for it to get serviced, and it was away for weeks. About a year later, a similar thing started happening. Cryptic error codes, experiments ruined. We sent it back again for repair, this time they gave us a loaner unit for the time being but it didn't come with the heating lid. We had to pay thousands for the repair, and we reconsidered paying for the repair and just buying one of the competition since the price of the Eppendorf one was nearly the same as a new unit from some competitors. However, we ultimately ended up getting it repaired. It hasnt had an issue again yet, but there's plenty of time for that. In summary, the unit is decent, but for the large pricetag of the brand we should get reliability and service to match it, which has not been our experience at all."

Love the block heater, fast, no waiting time.
Application Area:Research lab
"Very easy to set up, no need to read the manual. This instrument reaches the set temperature quickly. In minutes. Shaker included helps for certain DNA extraction and other experiments. The temperature accuracy is also amazing. What I like most is the speed that it reaches the temperature as I don't need to wait for my experiment."

"We had issues with the consistency of digestion using a waterbath/vortexing method for genotyping ear punches. Using the Thermomixer, we consistently get clean bands after genotyping and it takes less time to digest. Very efficient."
