Useful portable XRF spectrometer for quick analyses.

Average Rating 4.3

Application Area:

XRF spectroscopic analysis of samples

This is a useful instrument for doing "quick and dirty" XRF analyses of irregular samples that do not fit in our main XRF spectrometer. Spectra can be collected in a minute or so. It has some limitations in that the lightest element that can be detected is magnesium. The data collection and analysis software is a bit temperamental, sometimes you need to repeat the analysis but as the analysis time is so short there is no great hardship.

I highly recommend this instrument.

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

X-ray fluorescence

We have used the Thermo Niton XRF for several years. It has been one of the most reliable instruments we have. It has worked without fail for years. It provides excellent results with minimum maintenance work and for the field of use (trace lead in coatings and metallic levels in paints) it has performed very well.

For non authorized elements control, it is the right tool.

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Contamination detection & analysis

The product is very easy to use; lightweight, easy to carry to difficult places to access. The result of analysis are clear on a big screen. Measurements, once repeated give comparable/repeatable figures: accurate et stable measurement. If you're looking for a portable, easy use tool (with sufficient memory storage capacity and battery autonomy) to analyze products, this is the right tool. I use it for non authorized elements detection entering the site; for investigation about cross-contamination of our production tools; and for some elements, possible to use it for quantitative analysis.

Niton XL2 Plus is a reliable, accurate, splash and dust resistant ready to work.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Analysis of ore, minerals, concentrates, tailings

Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 Plus is a powerful and reliable XRF hand-held analyzer. It has a IP54 certification (splash and dust proof). The XRF technology on this units consist on a miniaturized X-ray tube, a Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) and a Detector ProGuard protection. The combination of size and technology IP rating make this unit ideal for work on mining and metallurgical harsh conditions. As on all Niton models, this version also has the a powerful and accurate quantitative system.

Is a powerful and accurate tool to perform the most difficult analysis tasks.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Mining and materials analysis

Portable XRF Niton XL5 is the best elemental analyzer in the market. The instrument comes with a wide range of mineral and soil calibrations allowing a very confident and accurate analysis. The reproducibility is under the 3% RSD (relative standard deviation) on low and high concentrations, meaning that is equal or better than reproducibility of lab assays. Niton XL5 includes a new and ultra miniaturized X ray tube which has a power 5W. In combination with the GOLD detector technology it is possible to reach the lowest limits of detection even if the matrix is very complex (like dross from foundries). Metal analysis mode comes with more than 600 standard alloys. Positive Material Identification (PMI) can be done is less than 1.5 seconds with an accuracy of more than 98%. Another calibrations can be added to the instruments at a low cost which includes precious metals analysis (with 99.98% accuracy), coatings (a very useful method for the automotive industry), electronics, consumer goods, plastics, and lead-in-paint. At last but not least is the powerful administration capability where you can create different user levels and profiles to perform quicker analysis without changing the settings. For instance, if it necessary some adjustments due the complexity of a particular matrix, it is possible the correct the calibration curve by performing a simple linear regression. This corrections remains in a profile for the specific matrix you are working on. You can clone that profile and adjustments to quickly create a new profile.
