Human breath samples can contain up to 1000 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) originating from environmental sources and the body’s own metabolic processes. VOCs on breath are a rich source of biological information with relevance for early disease detection, drug development, precision medicine and treatment monitoring across a wide range of contexts. The ReCIVA® Breath Sampler has been developed to provide robust and reliable non-invasive collection of VOCs from human breath. The device contains sensors that gather constant feedback on CO2 levels and air pressure. ReCIVA learns each subject’s breathing pattern and adapts to collect specific breath fractions, ensuring optimized collection of VOCs of interest. Samples are collected into Breath Biopsy Cartridges containing four thermal desorption tubes which can be analyzed in parallel or combined to provide higher sensitivity VOC detection. For optimal results, ReCIVA should be used as part of the Breath Biopsy Collection Station and we recommend combining it with Breath Biopsy Services for sample analysis.
