Excellent tool for quantifying microbial populations
Application Area: Quantify cell counts in microbial biofilm samples
"Our lab studies bacterial biofilms and have quantified CFU using hemocytometry. The Quantom TX cell counter has greatly streamlined our experiments with significant time savings compared to counting with a hemocytometer. The total cell counting stain in particular has been impressive and our Quantom cell counts have been very comparable to our historical counts using the hemocytometer. The consumables are easy to use and the counting software is intuitive."

Intuitive & accurate microbial cell counts!
Application Area:Microbiology
"This is *the machine* to go for if you're looking to do quick microbial cell counts. The workflow is intutive, fast, and accurate. I cannot say enough great things about the QUANTOM Tx."

Great machine with simple precision that's reliable.
Application Area:Bioprocess optimization
"Overall, QUANTOM Tx is user friendly, simple, quick, but accurate and accountable. The whole measurement for total and viable counts can be optimized to as short as 30min for the entire process. The results are reliable and accountable. I'd recommend this for all cell biology work. Compared with traditional cell plating which requires over-night incubation for viable results or total cell count by using the Neubauer method. With QUANTOM Tx, we can have reliable results and reduce the total process time."

Intuitive software and amazing after sales care.
Application Area:Infectious disease research
"The first QUANTOM Tx™ we received had a malfunctioning screen. We had the entire device replaced within a week after a simple phone call. A new device was mailed to us and the old device was personally picked up by a representative of Logos Biosystems. During the initial phone call representatives walked us through troubleshooting the problem step by step and kept us informed about the status of the replacement process. They offered to walk us through setting up the new device, but the software was very intuitive and the directions were explicit enough that it wasn't necessary. Results have been reproducible as of yet."

Makes it possible to discover membrane active components.
Application Area:Antimicrobial research
"Easy to handle, although I just started using the instrument and I have the impression I can do more with it. We are using it to count simple bacterial cells which we need to do in order to start antibacterial susceptibility assays. The drugs which we test against diverse bacterial cells are membrane active. Therefore, total as well as live/dead assays provide additional information for us. If there was a future upgrade for this instrument, I would definitely think about including optical filters for different wavelengths covering a broader fluorescence range. Then we could play with difference membrane permeable/impermeable dyes."

Overall, we are very satisfied with the platform. It is a mainstay of our workflow.
Application Area:Enumeration of microbial cells
"We use the Logos QUANTOM Tx (QTx) to enumerate various species of bacteria grown in liquid media. Prior to purchasing the QTx, enumeration was done via the spread-plate method. The rapid quantitation afforded by the QTx allows us to have a result in as little as 30 minutes, compared to 3 days for the spread-plate method. We have also found the QTx useful for determining the proportion of live/dead cells within a sample. The simplicity and ease of use of the QTx allows for rapid training of new operators and excellent repeatability. In addition, Logos' after-sales service has been exceptional."

Great results. I am very happy with the instrument.
Application Area:Enumerating bacteria in a liquid suspension
"The instrument is very easy to use. The sample prep is quick and the the replicates are pretty tight. I used it for counting very small cells, as well as bacteria that grow in chains or clusters and the software does a great job analyzing the image. I compared the results to other methods and the results are spot on. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase."
The QUANTOM Tx™ Microbial Cell Counter is an image-based, automated cell counter that can identify and count individual bacterial cells in mere minutes.
The sophisticated QUANTOM™ cell counting algorithm is the first of its kind, capable of detecting individual bacterial cells regardless of their diverse morphologies and arrangements. Multiple images of fluorescence-stained cells are captured and analyzed automatically for rapid and accurate bacterial cell counts.
Key Features:
Rapid
- Minutes to results
- No culturing required
Accurate
- Objective and no user-to-user variability
- No estimating based on colony forming units or turbidty
Single bacterium detection
- Regardless of cell shape, size, or arrangement
- Sophisticated bacterial cell counting software
