Solid device, love it.

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

Spectrometer

I used to work with Nanodrop before, then our lab switched to use Implen photometer. It's very user friendly, convenient, fast, and more accurate than Nanodrop. It has it's own small monitor so no need to specify a separate computer for it. The point that it's pretty small and doesn't occupy a large space is not negligible. It has a touch screen and is very straightforward to use. love it.

Application Area:

Biochemistry

So far so good! We've had this unit for about a month now, and my students say it is easy to use and gives reliable results. Can't complain about that.

characterizing dendrogenesis in drosophila

We have been using the N50 NanoPhotometer to measure concentration of DNA. It is easy to use and it is really sensitive, so we love it.

Application Area:

Nucleic Acid Sample Quality Control

The instrument was very easy to use. I had a great interaction with the Implen team. They were very supportive of my startup and offered me a payment plan that helped me get me to my next round of funding. I really appreciate their support and commitment to startups.

Best small volume spec on the market

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Protein/nucleic acid quantitation

The Implen NanoPhotometer N50 is extremely easy to use (intuitive menus and settings), accurate, and genuinely capable of measuring very small volumes repeatably. The touch screen works well even with gloves. Window configurations are adaptable so you can customize the information you're looking at while working. The instrument is light and mobile, and since it's all-in-one, you can literally move it to where you're working as needed. It's not stuck in a particular corner of the lab. In my opinion, it's the best nano-scale measurement device on the market for routine lab sample quantification and spectral reading.

Application Area:

DNA, RNA, protein concentration

We are getting very consistent data, this instrument is easy to use.

Review Date: 19 Jul 2017 | Implen

Great for nucleic acids; proteins, another story

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

RNA/DNA/Protein

Pros: Small footprint/no computer. easy to use and transfer data/very user-friendly DNA/RNA readings are accurate Small volume, cuvette-free Easy clean-up and maintenance Cons: We have had difficulty with accurate readings for BCA assays, despite the claim that this machine can do them. We ere told by implen that this was a software problem, but we are still waiting to receive the software update

  • Micro-volume capability starting with only 0.3µl of sample volume
  • Scanning range 200 to 650 nm in 6 seconds
  • Maintenance Free: No reconditioning and no recalibration ever
  • Reading quality check with Blank Control™
  • Ideal for nucleic acids, protein and samples in most organic solvents
  • Sample Control™ quality control technology to identify air bubbles, sample impurities, turbidity, lint residues and potential contaminations
  • Allows kinetic studies in a drop
  • Flexible unit control (from computer, smart phone and tablet)
  • Compatible with Apple, Android and Windows devices
  • 32GB onboard memory
  • Footprint 20x20x12 cm (smallest instrument of its kind)
  • Language functionality
  • Ultimate Data Security: custom Linux based operating system protects your data
  • Data export available in Excel and PDF Format

Applications:

  • Nucleic Acids: provides one-step easy analysis of dsDNA, ssDNA, RNA, and Oligonucleotides. In this method it is also possible to determine frequency of dye incorporation for dye conjugated nucleic acids. Choose from pre-programmed dye labels or create custom dye methods.
  • Proteins: protein quantification using direct A280 measurements, select from pre-programmed dye labels as well as create custom dye methods to determine degree of labeling of dye conjugated proteins
  • Protein Assays: quantify proteins using colorimetric assays including the BCA, Bradford, Lowry, and Biuret assays
  • Kinetics: measurement of change in absorbance as a function of time at fixed wavelength, application available in the heated cuvette port as well as for microvolume measurements
  • OD600: used to determine the absorbance at 600 nm
  • Wavelength: measurement of simple absorbance (Abs) or transmission (%T) at a single user defined wavelength
  • Wavescan: records the absorption (Abs) or transmission (%T) spectrum for the range between two user defined wavelengths
  • Absorbance Ratio: measure the ratio between two user defined wavelengths
  • Concentration: determines the concentration of samples from a single wavelength absorbance reading
  • Standard Curve: preparation of a multi-point calibration curve from standards of known concentration to quantify unknown samples is a fundamental use of a spectrophotometer; the NanoPhotomer® has the advantage of being able to store this curve as a method to be recalled for future experiments
  • Custom Applications: fully customizable application development is possible with the proprietary NanoPhotometer® Operating System. Please contact Implen team for more information about custom app design
