The mosquito-LCP is an absolutely ESSENTIAL piece of equipment in modern crystallography and even more so if working on membrane proteins and wish to pursue lipidic cubic phase (LCP) crystallization!!! The software is intuitive and customizable to accommodate many different types of crystallization methods including under oil, sitting/hanging drop vaporization and LCP. The mosquito-LCP does everything the mosquito-Crystal can do and more! With the LCP module, you can now quickly and efficiently set up sandwich trays of your favorite membrane protein using the wildly successful LCP method. And with the humidification chamber (a must have!), you never have to worry about your drops drying out! Disposable tips eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination and the 8-tip pipette head ensures fast and accurate drops every time. The mosquito-LCP truly is an ESSENTIAL piece of the membrane protein structure determination pipeline!

We have used our Mosquito LCP since 2011, and like other TTP Labtech instruments in our lab, it has been robust and easy to use. In the time we've had our Mosquito, our researchers have set up thousands of experiments with it at a fraction of the cost and time that it would have taken using manual methods. Purchasing the Mosquito LCP was the best thing our lab could have done, as it's allowed us to move our science forward faster and at a lower cost than we could have ever achieved without it. Training and use of the Mosquito LCP is easy, and the service we have received from TTP has been top-notch from the start. We couldn't ask for more from our Mosquito LCP or TTP.

The Mosquito LCP have definitely taken protein crystallization to a higher level in our laboratory. It is an amazing high quality precision instrument that combines high throughput with ease of use. It makes a great couple with the humidity chamber added, reducing small drop evaporation considerably which previously was a challenge in our lab. When protein amounts are scarce or we need to add small amounts of seed stock, additives or detergents its repetitive low volume capabilities are simply amazing. The ability to setup multi drop experiments is very convenient and it is easy to add new plates. The software is intuitive to use and its versatile scripting capabilities make it easy to script both simple and advanced programs. It is really easy for everyone to work with. It is reliable, fast and robust and is ready to use within minutes, no more liquid-to-liquid interaction and time consuming wash cycles.

We decided in 2013 to add to our HTP protein crystallography facility at EMBL unit in Hamburg, Germany, the Mosquito-LCP instrument. The main target of the Hamburg Unit is the structural and functional characterization of proteins and other macromolecules using synchrotron X-ray radiation. In this context, the Mosquito-LCP instrument enables our users to explore and screen a large number of crystallization conditions in an efficient and reliable manner. The acquisition of the mosquito-LCP contributed significantly to the quality of our services. EMBL’s decision to integrate TTP Labtech equipments underlines their outstanding performance - a driving force in the progress of science.

I am very glad that I bought it for our crystallization lab, especially working with membrane proteins one cannot miss it for LCP setups. It is also very useful for seeding techniques as well.

mosquito® LCP is the ultimate tool for membrane protein crystallization. It overcomes the common problems encountered with accurately dispensing the highly viscous lipidic cubic phase (LCP) mixture used in membrane protein crystallization. It allows you to fully automate LCP set-ups accurately and repeatedly.

mosquito LCP allows you to dispense lipidic cubic phase (LCP) volumes as low as 25 nL, while automated calibration of syringe and pipette positioning ensures precise drop-on-drop placement to facilitate downstream automated imaging. It combines an automated syringe dispenser and the mosquito pipetting head (as used in mosquito Xtal3) into one compact crystallization robot capable of highly accurate, precise and rapid automated plate set-ups.

SPT Labtech also offers additional components to enhance your membrane protein crystallization drop setting, such as an active humidity chamber to control relative humidity and also an automated mixer for preparing the LCP.
